About Mrs. V

I have been teaching AVMS students for about 2 years now.  I began during the fall of '07 when a 7th grade science teaching position was open.  Shortly after that there was a need in the 5th grade and I haven't looked back!

Ok, looking back now...

My first job after graduating from college with a bachelor's degree in psychology was teaching English as a second language in China.  I spent a very interesting year in the Northeast of China.

After returning stateside I worked as a social worker for the Ohio Department of Youth Services.  I taught guided group interaction as a means of conflict resolution with juvenile offenders.

I got married in 1991 and moved to Virginia Beach for my husband to attend seminary.  At that time I worked for the Chesapeake Dept of Health, directing the CHIP program: Child Health Improvement Project.  We coordinated community resources for low-income families with a focus on well care for kids.

I returned to graduate school and began to study early childhood education.  I graduated in 1995 with a Master of Arts in Teaching and a certification to teach NK-5.

For the next several years I had the privilege of full-time mothering of my own children.  I taught some home-school enrichment classes and I taught my own children at home in some of the early primary stages.

Our family moved to the Tucson area in 2003 in order to be nearer to some of my husband's family.  Transition to the desert wasn't unremarkable.  I have lived in the Robles Junction/Three Points community for four years now and it is my home.  I belong to the Serenity Baptist Church.  I believe I have a vested interest in making AVMS a place that engenders success for your kids and for mine.
